Today at Lancefield Early Education Centre we had some special visitors. The Lancefield Police came to our centre to talk to our children all about road safety as part of our National Road Safety Week programme. Our children loved getting to meet their local police officers and were so excited when they had a chance to sit inside a real police car! We would like to say a huge thank you to the local police for coming and sharing their valuable knowledge with our children!
Yesterday we were delighted to host Sam with his amazing West African instruments as part of our three and four-year-old Kinder programmes at Romsey and Lancefield Early Education Centres. All the kids loved playing these wonderful instruments while learning all about how they were made and their significance to the people of Ghana. It was an absolutely wonderful incursion full of dance, song, culture and history.

This week our three and four-year-old kinder program at Romsey celebrated Holi, the Indian festival of colours. Holi marks the arrival of spring in the Indian subcontinent and is a day that celebrates peace, love, happiness and friendship with singing, dancing, the famous ‘colour run’ and more. During this week we did many activities that taught the kids about Holi while also having fun and developing our fine motor skills. The kids loved face painting and finger painting, learning some traditional songs and rhymes, eating colourful foods and of course our very own colour run!
As part of our three and four-year-old kinder program at Romsey and Lancefield Early Education Centres we hosted local Author Kelly Louise Jarris as she introduced our children to her new children’s book Wonderful Wishes. Our children loved hearing Kelly read Wonderful Wishes and listening as she told them all about writing stories and the power of their imaginations. As a fantastic end to Kelly’s visit all of our kinder children took home a copy of Wonderful Wishes to share with their families.
